A Unique Achievement

Australian representatives: Jacob Despard, Josh Azzopardi and Jack Hale

Two former students have been selected in the Australian Men’s Athletics Team to compete at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham UK (July 28 – August 8).

Congratulations to Jacob Despard (SVC 2010-13) and Jack Hale (SVC 2011-14) on this unique achievement. Both are part of a six person squad for the 4 x 100m relay.  There is also a chance that one of them could gain entry into the  individual 100m event.  Both are in Europe at the moment where they are involved in pre-Games competition. Depending on performances one of the two could be selected to join Rohan Browning and Jake Doran in the hundred.

The relay team is a definite medal chance with all six able to clock 10.2 sec or better for the hundred.  So much will depend on baton changes!
