Farewell Terry

Terry Blizzard, esteemed and much loved Deputy Principal of St Virgil's College 2011-2019, has resigned from his position as Principal of St Mary's College, St Kilda.

This was a difficult decision for Terry, a passionate educator and a dedicated leader - however it was time for him to put the needs of his family first.

For over 12 months Terry has been balancing his responsibilities to his school community whilst caring for his wife, Sue, who has been courageously battling against serious health challenges. With the passing of time it became evident to Terry that he could no longer sustain this without compromising one or the other.

With a heavy heart, and the support of his family and EREA, Terry retired from his principalship at the end of Term one this year. Terry is looking forward to spending quality time with his wife, Sue, and being "a ruggedly good looking" Poppy to his much adored grandchildren, Evie, Johnny and Lily.

Terry is held in the highest regard due to the quality of his service to the St Virgil’s College community. Our thoughts and best wishes go to Terry and to Sue.

The following is part of his final message to the College community in its newsletter:

"I am reminded though at this time of something I have shared with our young people in numerous forums – 'sometimes you have to do things because it is the right thing to do'. This is that moment for me and it is time I followed my own mantra, I must do this because it is the right thing to do."

"I am not sure what the future holds for me, but I need to turn my energies to my family. Please know that this is a decision made with the heaviest of hearts and always with the school and our young people at the forefront."
