Michael Di Venuto, Caleb Jewell, Allan Haw and our 1st XI...

Michael Di Venuto

The Old Virgilians Association acknowledges and congratulates former student Michael Di Venuto (SVC 1986-91) on his outstanding contributions to the Australian Cricket Team.  What a summer! With Michael as its batting coach, Australia won the World T20 Trophy and followed this up with a 4-0 drubbing of the England team in the recent Ashes Test Series. With the recent resignation of Justin Langer who knows what the future may hold for 'Div".

A Shining Jewell

Well done to Caleb Jewell (SVC 2010-13) on an improved season with the Hobart Hurricanes in the recent BBL11 season.  Caleb gained more game time this season and was the team’s second top scorer in the elimination final against the Adelaide Strikers.

A Memorable Innings!

In a recent game for Dodges Ferry Sharks against Swansea in the ODCA competition, Allan Haw (SVC 1994) compiled a record knock for his club – a whirlwind 260 runs off 117 balls.  His innings included 40 boundaries made up of 16 fours and 24 sixes.  He shared a 393 run partnership with Tom Bennett.

Allan followed this up with bowling figures of 4/32.

Back in the Big Time!

In 2022 the College 1st XI have taken on the ambitious task of re-entering the SATIS statewide roster for the first time since 1994. Whilst we are playing against predominantly Year 11 and 12 students, and when we play GYC our past graduates, the experience has been invaluable as we transition to Year 11 in 2023. The boys have been lion-hearted in their efforts and have represented the College crest with enormous pride. Whilst we have been more than competitive in some parts of games ultimately we have been brought undone by Premier League first grade players.

To follow the 1st XI just add St Virgil's College senior school to the list of clubs you are following.
